Intended Audience In order for nurses to perform effective aseptic technique, they must have a thorough understanding of the precautions that apply to a variety of different patient situations. This program provides a discussion and demonstration of the selection and use of gloves, as well as sterile technique, which includes creating a sterile field and performing a sterile procedure. Learning Objectives After completing this course, the learner should be able to: - Identify the various situations and procedures where a sterile field is necessary. - Take proper precautions when preparing a sterile field. - Perform all of the appropriate steps needed to successfully create a sterile field. - Demonstrate the correct method for applying sterile gloves. - Explain the proper precautions and techniques to prepare the skin around a procedure site. - Describe use and disposal of needles or other sharps.
