Fall Prevention in Long Term Care: A Comprehensive Fall Prevention Program

INTENDED AUDIENCE This activity was developed to help nurses and other healthcare workers prevent resident falls in the long term care environment. STATEMENT OF NEED Studies show that 1 in 3 individuals over the age of 65 will fall each year, and the consequences of these falls can be serious, with an estimated 23,000 older adults dying each year as a result of their falls. To ensure the safety of the residents they care for, nurses and other healthcare professionals need to know the components and goals of comprehensive fall prevention program. METHOD OF PARTICIPATION To complete this activity and obtain CE credit, you must do the following: - Read this Course Introduction/Disclosures section in its entirety. - Read the course material. - Complete the Post Test with a score of 80% or more. - Submit the online activity evaluation form.
