Education Services International opens first International office in Africa

Education Services International (ESI) is pleased to announce, in partnership with DevDigital, LLC, the e-learning platform's initial step in realizing its global expansion plans with the launch of its flagship international branch in Lusaka, Zambia.

The Sub-Saharan Africa office, which opened on May 16th, 2018, represents a major step forward in ESI's core mission to empower the growing youth population of Africa by enabling access to accredited online education courses, e-books, and other avenues that can help develop the continent's untapped skilled labor workforce.

“In light of Africa’s increasing labor force,” ESI Head of Sales and Marketing Michelle Morel said, “the ability of a skilled workforce to contribute meaningfully to economic growth in diverse sectors requires education and training investment in development of the workforce.”

Morel, a Lusaka native, is one of the founding partners of ESI and an experienced veteran of both the public and private sectors. Her roots in the area made Lusaka the logical choice for ESI's inaugural international bureau.

“According to The World Bank’s World Development Indicators database, the ‘Services’ industry, which includes value added in wholesale and retail trade, accounted for 54 percent of GDP in Zambia in 2016,” Morel said. “Promoting a skilled workforce is critical for sustainable socio-economic development.”

ESI, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A., is a company passionate about delivering high-quality, industry-recognized educational content through a Learning Management System (LMS).

The partnership with DevDigital and managing partner Peter Marcum was central in facilitating this ambitious but visionary endeavor. Since the early 1980's, Marcum has built and sold several multimillion-dollar companies, often concentrated within the software and hardware technology sectors. His continued success is evident with DevDigital, a custom software and platform development firm, also headquartered in Nashville, which currently boasts over 130 employees worldwide.

With its proven track record in e-learning excellence combined with DevDigital's committed support apparatus, there are no borders to contain ESI's growing influence as a global market leader in online education.
